I went away for a little bit: 16 days, to be exact.
12 of those were spent tackling one of the biggest things I have set my eyes on:
the Camino de Santiago.
For my traveling friend and I, it was 200 miles of grueling, stretching, and transformative steps.
Averaging just shy of 20 miles each day, we tackled heat, incline, water shortage, sun, wind, rain, surfaces of all kinds (wood planks, beach sand, rocks and boulders, dirt and tree roots, cobblestones upon cobblestones, and more), carrying everything we had for the trek on our backs.
What we thought might feel more like a "walk in the park" ended up being a time to come to the "end of ourselves". (Beautifully so.)
Started: August 13th // Finished: August 24th
Portuguese Coastal Route, from Porto to Santiago.
Over two weeks since completion, and I'm still coming up short on words to describe the experience for me -- both difficult and wonderful, and so much more.
I’ll let these images speak for themselves. Enjoy this art from upon The Way.
